PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island Tax Administrator David Sullivan is leaving his post for a job in the private sector.

Sullivan is also the acting director of the Department of Revenue.

The department announced Wednesday that Sullivan will leave both positions next month to join the Providence office of Ryan LLC, a global tax services firm.

Sullivan says he’s proud of the accomplishments of both the revenue department and the taxation division. He’s worked for the state for nearly a decade.

Gov. Gina Raimondo says Sullivan handled multiple tasks skillfully while holding two state jobs.

The governor has asked other state employees to take over his responsibilities during the search for a permanent replacement.

Sullivan has served as tax administrator since 2006. He was named acting director this year.
