RENO, Nev. (AP) - Washoe County School District officials have voted to approve a contract for the district’s new superintendent.

The board of trustees voted 5-2 on Tuesday in favor of the contract for Traci Davis, who has been working as interim superintendent since October 2014. Davis will receive $311,000 in her first year as superintendent. Her starting salary will be $238,000, the same amount given to her predecessor, Pedro Martinez.

Under the contract, Davis will be paid $73,000 in perks her first year. The perks include up to $5,000 reimbursement for the legal fees of negotiating her contract and $800 monthly for personal vehicle use.

The terms of Davis’ contract will need to be renegotiated before it ends July 2018.

Davis’ attorney says her client “wants to be judged on her performance.”
