HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - The family of a woman who was killed in an explosion at the Ultratec pyrotechnics factory has filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

Media outlets report the family of Virginia Marie Sanderson filed the lawsuit Tuesday and is seeking unspecified damages from the company. Sanderson was one of the two employees killed in February’s explosion at the Owens Cross Roads facility.

The lawsuit says the company failed to provide Sanderson with a safe work environment. The family is requesting a jury decide the amount of damages they’re entitled to. They’re also asking for court costs.

Madison County Sheriff’s deputies say the explosion happened during the fireworks mixing process. An August investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration resulted in 13 serious and one other-than-serious safety citations.
