NEW YORK (AP) - Police say one woman has died after she was struck by a car in a hit-and-run.

The accident happened in the East New York section of Brooklyn on Thursday when the victim was crossing Pennsylvania Avenue and Wortman. The vehicle took off, struck other cars and injured at least 10 others before stopping, according to police and fire officials. The other suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver fled on foot but officers apprehended him not far away. Charges were pending. The investigation was continuing.
