STOWE, Vt. (AP) - Eight Vermont ski resorts are expected to open this week or weekend during the Thanksgiving holiday despite the mild temperatures.

According to Ski Vermont, Okemo Mountain Resort opened Tuesday and Stowe Mountain Resort opened Wednesday.

Sugarbush and Mount Snow planned to open Thursday, Bromley Mountain, Jay Peak and Smugglers’ Notch on Friday and Stratton Mountain on Saturday.

Killington opened in late October.

New England Cable News reports that Vermont resorts hope to build on a record breaking 2014-2015 season, which saw nearly 4.7 million skier and rider visits.
