LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Forecasters say flooding is likely in parts of Arkansas as a slow-moving storm system is expected to drop up to 8 inches of rain through the holiday weekend.

A flash flood watch is in effect from Thursday night through Saturday night. The National Weather Service says 5 to 7 inches of rain are possible in areas along and west of the Interstate 30 and U.S. 67 corridors. The highest amount of rain is expected in the Ouachita Mountains in western Arkansas, which could see nearly 8 inches of rain.

Forecasters say the rain should start in western Arkansas on Thursday afternoon, with the heaviest rainfall expected Friday through late Saturday night. Forecasters say the Arkansas, Buffalo, Black, Spring and White rivers are at risk of minor to moderate flooding.
