MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Mobile police say two men had to be hospitalized after engaging in a shootout.

Mobile police tell WKRG (https://bit.ly/1Ra1ItQ) that the shootout occurred Wednesday night near an apartment complex in East Mobile. One of the men had driven a woman to pick up items from an apartment unit. The woman’s ex-boyfriend then came outside and confronted the man who was still sitting in the car.

Police say the men began shooting at each other. Both men were struck. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Mobile police say the victim in the car initially identified himself as a Prichard police officer, but only served as a reserve in the department several months ago. Police say he could face additional charges for impersonating a police officer.
