SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - While Americans were asking for a third helping of stuffing, animals at Salt Lake City’s Hogle Zoo were enjoying their own special treats during the annual Thanksgiving “Feast with the Beast” event.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/1OkcVY6 ) that Zoo keepers provided food-based enrichment to many animals Thursday including turkey-shaped piñatas to smash and pumpkins to chew.

Among the treats were pumpkins to play with for the elephants, pumpkins to nibble for African Crested Porcupines, a gourd stuffed with goodies for gorillas and a cornucopia of vegetables inside a pumpkin for a 450-pound tortoise.
