VICTOR, W.Va. (AP) - Deputies say they won’t charge a driver who struck and killed a deer in the Victor area of Fayette County.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office initially sought a driver who was believed to have struck the deer intentionally Thursday morning.

Media outlets report that numerous tips led authorities to the driver. The driver indicated he accidentally hit the deer and that he lost sight of the animal after his airbags deployed. He did not report the incident because he only maintained liability insurance.

Sheriff Steve Kessler says he’s grateful for the number of tips that enabled the situation to be resolved quickly.
