CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - Illinois running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn is not listed as injured for Saturday’s game against Northwestern but the Illini may be without starting center Joe Spencer.

The team’s pregame injury report released Friday didn’t list Vaughn. Interim coach Bill Cubit was optimistic earlier this week that Vaughn would return after missing last Saturday’s loss at Minnesota with a possible concussion.

Vaughn is Josh Ferguson’s backup for Illinois (5-6, 2-5 Big Ten). But he has played extensively and has 661 yards on 145 carries and six touchdowns. Ferguson has 668 yards on 155 carries and three scores.

Spencer is listed as questionable. No details about his injury were available. Redshirt freshman Nick Allegretti is Spencer’s backup.

The Illini face the Wildcats (9-2, 5-2) needing a win to gain bowl eligibility.
