BOLIVIA, N.C. (AP) - The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office says remains found earlier this month in Leland are those of a Wilmington teen who has been missing since 2011.

Sheriff’s deputies told local media that the remains found Nov. 5 are those of Al’quon Flowers.

Investigators say the identity was confirmed following a pathology report from East Carolina University in Greenville.

Investigator Kevin Tully said the remains were found after a federal inmate who was a suspect in Flowers’ disappearance led officers to the remains.

Tully said there was not enough evidence in 2011 to charge the suspect in Flowers’ death.

Flowers was last seen July 19, 2011.
