MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - A Middle Tennessee high school student who disappeared 16 years ago will be remembered Monday on her 33rd birthday.

The Daily News Journal (https://on.dnj.com/1PZQ57S ) says grade school friends of China Videon are sponsoring the vigil and invited Videon’s friends to attend. Videon attended Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro.

Videon was 16 when she disappeared Oct. 19, 1999. Her mother, Suzanne, last saw her daughter that evening at a beauty salon. She planned to get gas for her car and go home, but her mother never saw her again.

Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Detective Steve Kohler says he’s had leads recently and gets closer every day to making an arrest.

Suzanne Videon says she plans to attend the vigil and is glad her daughter’s friends are remembering her on her birthday.
