NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - Police in Newport News say a man who led police on a chase on Interstate 64 has died in a crash.

The Daily Press (https://bit.ly/1QL7BOX) reports the 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at a hospital Thursday night. His identity wasn’t immediately released.

Police spokeswoman Holly McPherson says police received a call about a shooting in which a 26-year-old Newport News man suffered injuries that weren’t life threatening.

McPherson says the 56-year-old suspect led police on a chase on I-64 in Newport News before his car crashed into a retaining wall and caught fire.
