CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - A southern New Jersey man has been charged with murder in the street shooting death of his cousin.

Camden County prosecutors say Braheem Carmickel was arrested Monday night at his attorney’s office in Camden. Bail was set at $1 million for the 26-year-old Camden resident, and an arraignment hearing has not been scheduled.

Carmickel is accused of killing 25-year-old Kashif Carmickel in August. The Camden man was found by police who responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Sycamore and Orchard streets.

Prosecutors say cell phone and GPS evidence, along with surveillance footage, led them to identify Braheem Carmickel as the alleged shooter. A warrant for his arrest had been issued on Friday.

Carmickel’s attorney could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
