TOWN OF EAU PLEINE, Wis. (AP) - Authorities say a 59-year-old man was seriously hurt when he fell 16 feet while installing a tree stand in Portage County.

Officials say the accident happened around 8:30 a.m. Monday in the town of Eau Pleine.

The man was standing on a branch when it broke, sending him to the ground.

The sheriff’s department says the man was unable to breathe properly or walk out of the wooded area. A sheriff’s deputy was able to find the injured man.

WAOW-TV (https://bit.ly/1Q4CYU7 ) reports the man was flown to a Wausau hospital in serious condition. His name was not released.
