EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) - Northwestern University says a philosophy professor has resigned after the school found he sexually harassed two students.

Northwestern’s Vice President for University Relations Alan Cubbage said in a Tuesday news release that professor Peter Ludlow resigned Monday.

Cubbage says Ludlow’s resignation came after the school initiated proceedings to fire him and amid a hearing before a faculty committee considering the case. Cubbage calls Ludlow’s actions “an affront to the standards and expectations” that Northwestern has for its faculty.

Cubbage says Ludlow hasn’t taught any classes at the school since March 2014.

A call to Ludlow seeking comment was not immediately returned.
