BOWLING GREEN, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police say a driver involved in a wreck died from gunshot wounds and his death was homicide.

WWBT-TV (https://bit.ly/1KWfWqI) reports that state police identified the driver as 43-year-old Vernon Huff.

A trooper responding to the Oct. 30 wreck on Interstate 95 found that Huff had been shot multiple times. State police say it’s not clear if the shots were fired inside the vehicle, while Huff was driving or before the vehicle got on I-95.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond determined that the cause of death was gunshot wounds.

State police are retracing Huff’s movements leading up to the shooting and wreck.
