MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) - A Central Michigan University freshman pushed another person to safety just before he was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver near the school’s Mount Pleasant campus.

The Saginaw News reports (https://bit.ly/1Nc5Qng ) that state police said Tuesday that 17-year-old Ryan Tsatsos pushed a female out of the vehicle’s path.

Tsatsos of Macomb Township, north of Detroit, was walking with friends back to his residence hall early Sunday when he was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are seeking help from the public in identifying the driver. Witnesses described the vehicle as older and dark in color with four doors.

Police say Tsatsos was struck along an unlit section of roadway.
