ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - A businesswoman endorsed by the outgoing mayor of Duluth will apparently become his successor.

WDIO-TV (https://bit.ly/1KXk1Lc ) reports that preliminary results from Tuesday’s election show City Council President Emily Larson is poised to become the new mayor of Duluth. Larson was first elected to an at-large seat on the City Council in 2011.

She was endorsed by Mayor Don Ness, the Duluth DFL and others. Ness served two four-year terms and chose not to run again. He will step down in January.
