MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Hundreds of riders are saddling up their horses in Myrtle Beach for the annual beach ride.

Hosted by the Lakewood Camping Resort, more than 1,200 horses and riders are expected for the annual event that begins on Wednesday and continues through Sunday.

Proceeds go to the American Heart Association and since the beach ride started 34 years ago, more than $3 million has been raised.

During the week there will be clinics, concerts and contests as well as a church service on Sunday morning. The highlight of the event is a 20-mile ride along beach trails on Saturday morning.
