MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - A doctoral student wants to talk to Mason City residents about their experiences with the June 2008 flooding.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1Ww1B0b ) that Syndi Grauberger is looking for people who had $5,000 or less in property damage to their homes. She says her study is focused on finding out whether emotional trauma can still take root in victims who did not experience catastrophic losses.

Grauberger says she’s interviewed about a dozen victims from Cedar Rapids and Iowa City and plans to identify more in six other Iowa cities.

She can be reached at 641-751-9147.
