OCEANSIDE, Calif. (AP) - A stolen-vehicle suspect was arrested in Oceanside after he led authorities on a high-speed pursuit that spanned three counties and lasted 2 ½ hours.

Los Angeles police say the chase began shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday as officers in Watts tried to stop a Chevy pickup that had been reported stolen.

The driver gunned it, reaching speeds of 100 mph during the pursuit that wound into Orange County and San Diego County.

The California Highway Patrol says the pickup was eventually stopped on Interstate 5 in Oceanside and the driver was taken into custody.

He has not been identified.
