MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A Florida man has pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of an Alabama State Trooper during a high-speed chase.

The Montgomery Advertiser reports (https://on.mgmadv.com/1XOE9bQ ) court records show 20-year-old Nelson Bell, of West Palm Beach, Florida, also faced other charges related to the chase in Autauga County, but they were dropped as part of the plea deal.

Bell faces similar charges in Elmore County as well.

Sgt. Steve Jarrett, a spokesman for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, says an Alabama State Trooper attempted to pull Bell over for speeding in August 2014. Bell didn’t pull over and the chase grew to include other troopers and officers from surrounding agencies.

Bell is accused of firing several shots at the pursuing trooper during the chase. He later fled on foot, but was captured.
