BOSTON (AP) - Police say three minors were arrested after allegedly assaulting a group of homeless people with a pellet gun and rocks in northeastern Massachusetts.

WHDH-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1Ne4V63 ) officers responded Tuesday to reports that someone was firing BBs at homeless people living underneath a railroad bridge along the Northern Canal in Lowell.

Police say an officer observed three juveniles on the bridge, two throwing rocks and the other firing the pellet gun.

Police charged a 14-year-old for unlawful possession of the pellet gun, three counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and trespassing.

Two 12-year-olds were charged with assault and battery.

Police were especially concerned with the pellet gun, which was an exact replica of the Smith and Wesson model handgun carried by many law enforcement officers.
