NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - Authorities say two men were injured and a puppy was thrown out of a car after a man entered the victims’ vehicle in Newport News.

The Daily Press (https://bit.ly/1k9SaTf ) reports two people were inside the car Monday waiting for their friend.

Police say the suspect entered the vehicle after the victims’ friend opened the door. The suspect then threw out a box containing a 4-week-old puppy and took out a gun.

He struck two of the victims and took some of their property and money.

The victims were instructed to drive the suspect to a specific street. After taking him to a 7-Eleven, the suspect fled the area.

Officers located the puppy and returned the unharmed animal to one of the victims.

No further details were provided about the incident.
