ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - A Rockford high school has lifted a lockdown put in place after one of its students was shot in a foot nearby.

Roosevelt High School was placed on lockdown for about 30 minutes after the shooting occurred a block away about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. The school district released a media advisory stating that students and staff were safe.

Rockford police Sgt. Dennis Oblinger tells the Rockford Register Star (https://bit.ly/20uJd7u ) officers located the victim at the school after the shooting. He says the youth didn’t suffer life-threatening injuries.

Oblinger says the motive for the shooting was unclear and the victim was only able to offer a vague description of the assailants.
