Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Tuesday night manually retweeted, then quickly deleted, a collage featuring his GOP rival Jeb Bush next to a Nazi flag.

The tweet read, “ADIOS JEB, aka JOSE,” and the collage featured Nazi imagery and Hispanic stereotypes to bash Mr. Bush, including a photo of him dressed as a mariachi in a cartoon desert.

The campaign said Wednesday morning that Mr. Trump did not realize the image included offensive imagery, The Washington Post reported.

“This was retweeted by Mr. Trump like hundreds of others. He did not see the accompanying image and the retweet has since been deleted,” Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks said in an email.

It’s the not the first time Mr. Trump has found himself in hot water over his Twitter account. Last month, his account retweeted a comment suggesting Iowa voters are brain-damaged for supporting his rival Ben Carson. Mr. Trump later blamed an intern for the mistake.

Bush spokeswoman Kristy Campbell joked Tuesday: “Trump tweets swastika as part of latest attack on Jeb. T-minus 8 hours until another ‘young intern’ is fired.”
