DETROIT (AP) - A group of Detroit-area youth will give an original performance honoring Parliament-Funkadelic’s George Clinton at the Detroit Institute of Arts.

The Southfield-based Legacy Dance Studio dancers have been rehearsing to a variety of hits made famous during the 1970s by the funk band.

Clinton is to appear Thursday night at the art museum as part of the Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers’ “Tales from the Funk with George Clinton.” He will join four others relating real-life tales at the Detroit Film Theatre.

The program will be held in conjunction with the “30 Americans” contemporary art exhibition which will be on view at the DIA through Jan. 18.

Clinton and other members of Parliament-Funkadelic were inducted in 1997 into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
