SEATTLE (AP) - Authorities say 12 people have been arrested in connection with a drug trafficking ring in King and Snohomish counties.

The Justice Department said in a news release Thursday that in two years of investigation, law enforcement seized over 50 pounds of heroin and more than 100 pounds of methamphetamine. Over $1.1 million involved in the operation also was seized.

Those arrested range in age from 20 to 57 years old and include seven people from Marysville and others from Bothell, Stanwood, Port Angeles, Everett and Fresno, California. The suspects were scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon.

U.S. Attorney Annette L. Hayes says the group was transporting and distributing large quantities of both drugs up through California and into King and Snohomish Counties.
