TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Two people are dead after their speeding car went out of control and struck a house in West Tampa.

Tampa police say no one inside the house was injured when in the crash late Wednesday night.

According to police, the car was traveling at a “high rate of speed” when it left the road, struck a wrought-iron fence and then crashed into a front bedroom of the home.

Carmen Hidalgo told The Tampa Tribune (https://bit.ly/1Hc9RLM ) she was on the second floor getting ready for bed when the crash occurred.

The names of the driver and passenger haven’t been released.

Police continue to investigate.
