FLORIDA GOV. SCOTT WANTS $1 BILLION IN TAX CUTS DESPITE AN UPHILL BATTLE IN THE LEGISLATURE

Scott is recommending the hefty amount despite signs that the Republican-controlled Florida Legislature will resist going along with such a large tax cut package. Scott, however, will argue that the dramatic tax cuts will help the state’s economy withstand the next downturn.

OFFICERS SEIZE ASSETS OF RAPPER LIL WAYNE FOR $2 MILLION COURT JUDGMENT OVER LEASED JET

Miami-Dade Police Department spokeswoman Marjorie Eloi says the court order was executed Tuesday. An inventory of what items were seized and will be sold to satisfy the debt was not immediately available Thursday.

The justices were asked to decide whether Republican ex-Sen. Alex Diaz de la Portilla of Miami should be held in direct or indirect contempt for failing to appear in court to explain why he wouldn’t turn over a dog to his wife in a divorce. Direct contempt is generally applied when someone openly defies a judge in court, rather than a failure to appear.

Charlotte County Fire & EMS reports that rescuers responded to the Redneck Yacht Club Mud Park in Punta Gorda on Thursday. Local media reports that a man in his 60s was airlifted to a Bradenton trauma center.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department spokesman Tom Francis tells local media that Adam Rosier Jr. became entangled in a casting net as he and his 45-year-old uncle, John Rosier, were fishing for mullet early Thursday morning.
