MIAMI (AP) - Even Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson doesn’t seem to think his campaign ad featuring rap lyrics is the best idea.

Carson said Thursday he “probably would have taken a little different approach,” when asked about the new ad during book-signing events in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The minute-long ad features rapper Aspiring Mogul, who raps at one point during the ad “Vote and support Ben Carson, for our next president and be awesome.” Parts of Carson’s campaign speeches are interspersed between the lyrics in the ad.

Later calling the ad that “rap thing,” Carson laid the blame on his presidential campaign staff for coming up with the idea. However, Carson said he appreciated the attempt to try and reach out into different markets.
