HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is heading to New Hampshire to campaign for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

The incoming chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, Malloy was scheduled to discuss Clinton’s plan to combat gun violence in Lebanon on Thursday at noon.

He was also expected to meet with activists in Keene and attend a phone bank kick-off in Concord before appearing at the Salem Democrats’ annual fall gala.

Malloy has called for stronger gun control legislation following the Dec. 14, 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, which left 20 first graders and six educators dead.

Clinton has proposed comprehensive federal background check requirements, including for gun show and Internet sales; repealing certain immunity protections for the gun industry, as well as other provisions.
