NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a 10-month-old baby was unharmed after falling two stories from the open window of a western New York home.

The Niagara Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1SrWEjf ) the infant climbed onto the windowsill of a home on Willow Avenue Tuesday evening and fell out onto the grass because no screen was in place.

City of Niagara Falls Police Superintendent Bryan DalPorto says his department has ruled the incident “accidental.”

Police Capt. Kelly Rizzo says the baby’s father told officers he believed the window had a screen, which was later corroborated by a voice stress analyzer.

Rizzo says the incident has been turned over to the Niagara County District Attorney’s Office and police will only conduct a more extensive investigation at the prosecutors’ request.

Officials say the baby wasn’t taken into protective custody.
