WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) - The father of a Watford City teenager who died in a fire says the boy apparently started the blaze while working on a vehicle in his neighbor’s garage.

Fifteen-year-old Devon Hunt died on Oct. 28. The Williston Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1l97ZtE ) that the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t released details of the incident.

Father Ryan Hunt says authorities told him that his son tried to put out the fire rather than fleeing the garage, and succumbed to smoke and fumes.

Devon Hunt was a sophomore at Watford City High School. His funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at CrossPoint Church in Watford City.
