TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - The former head of Ohio’s Democratic Party who stepped down after losing his seat in the Ohio House last year says he won’t try to win back the seat in 2016.

Chris Redfern told The Blade (https://bit.ly/1McvQiD ) newspaper in Toledo that his decision not to run for Ohio House doesn’t mean he’s leaving politics for good.

The Democrat from northern Ohio’s Ottawa County announced his resignation as the state’s chair after his party lost all five statewide office races.

Redfern and his wife have been operating an inn and boutique winery along the Lake Erie shore since he stepped down.
