CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. (AP) - Officials say a student at a suburban New York high school has been accused of sexually abusing a 7-year-old boy.

The Journal News reports (https://lohud.us/1QfdAdH ) the 16-year-old Horace Greeley High School student has been charged with first-degree sexual assault.

Authorities say he’s accused of having the young boy touch him inappropriately sometime between Aug. 28 and Sept. 28. He was arrested on Oct. 23.

Defense attorney Kerry Lawrence says his client has pleaded not guilty and they look forward to a “favorable resolution” of the case in court.

Chappaqua Superintendent Lyn McKay declined to comment and says the police investigation doesn’t involve the schools.

He’s due back in court Nov. 19.
