SALEM, Mass. (AP) - Jury selection resumes Thursday in the trial of a Massachusetts teenager charged with raping and killing his math teacher.

The process started last month, but was suspended after lawyers for 16-year-old Philip Chism expressed concerns about his competence.

The judge ruled Wednesday that Chism was able to stand trial after he underwent a 20-day mental health evaluation.

Chism is charged in the October 2013 rape and slaying of 24-year-old Danvers High School teacher Colleen Ritzer. Her body was found in woods near the school with her throat slit.

Chism was 14 at the time and had recently moved from Tennessee. He is being tried as an adult and has pleaded not guilty. The judge has said opening statements could start by Nov. 16 or earlier.
