LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Lafayette Parish Superintendent Donald Aguillard plans to add a new staff member to his team to work with the district’s lowest-performing schools.

The Advertiser reports (https://bit.ly/1HbIWQb) the school board unanimously approved the job description Wednesday night for a school improvement administrator. Within the central office, the position will replace the social studies specialist position, which has been eliminated.

Aguillard says he envisions the administrator working closely with three to five low-rated schools. The schools were not specifically named. Aguillard noted the district expects to receive individual student reports next week on performance on last spring’s English and math tests. The state also will release performance scores for elementary and middle schools next month.
