PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A suspect charged with murder in the death of a Providence woman has been identified as a 31-year-old city man.

Efrain Blanco was charged Thursday in District Court, Providence, in the death of 54-year-old Zenaida Pacheco. He was ordered held without bail.

Blanco turned himself in to police late Wednesday night after police released surveillance photos they said pressured him to surrender. He was initially wanted for questioning as a person of interest.

It was not known Thursday who is lawyer is. He did not enter a plea.

Authorities do not know Blanco’s connection with Pacheco, who died Oct. 24. Investigators believe he was the last person to leave her apartment.

Police say her body was found Oct. 27 by a maintenance worker.

Blanco’s next court date is Nov. 18.
