FORT GIBSON, Okla. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a man fatally shot by a Cherokee County deputy sheriff.

Cherokee County Undersheriff Jason Chennault said Thursday that 30-year-old Daniel Nole was fatally shot by Deputy Bryan Qualls. The Muskogee Phoenix (https://bit.ly/1GNDymz ) reports the incident happened Friday at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility.

Police say they responded and found that Nole had stabbed four people. Chennault said Nole was acting erratically when Qualls encountered him. According to police, Qualls used a Taser on Nole, but it had no effect. Authorities say Nole advanced toward Qualls, who had fallen. The deputy then fatally shot Nole.

Qualls has been placed on administrative leave pending an inquiry by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Three of the stabbing victims were taken to hospitals for treatment. Information was not available for the fourth victim.
