LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A federal judge in Louisiana has sentenced an Alabama man to 10 years in prison for transporting sexually explicit photos of a minor.

U.S. District Judge Richard T. Haik also sentenced 50-year-old Mario Duran to five years of supervised probation and ordered the Jemison, Alabama, resident to register as a sex offender once he’s released.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley said in a news release Acadia Parish sheriff’s deputies ran across Duran in his truck in the parking lot.

She said with Duran were two underage girls, who told deputies they didn’t know the man who had picked them up in Alabama.

Finley says deputies found three cellphones, and one of the phones had sexually explicit photos of a minor. She said the images were not of the girls riding with Duran.
