McALESTER, Okla. (AP) - Police say a McAlester woman was killed as she jumped out of a pickup truck that was being pursued by police.

Police told reporters that 34-year-old Amber Brewer was a passenger in the truck and was run over by the vehicle when she tried to get out of it early Thursday morning. Police say the driver of the truck was arrested on potential second-degree murder charge.

Det. Sgt. Chris Morris told reporters the chase began shortly after 4 a.m. when officers from McAlester and Krebs were investigating a burglary call and a man at the scene used his truck to ram a patrol vehicle. Morris says the man then led police on a 15-minute chase that ended shortly after Brewer jumped from the truck and was killed.
