MILWAUKEE (AP) - A 16-year-old Milwaukee boy faces a criminal charge after authorities say he fled police in a stolen van when it crashed, killing a friend who was ejected from the vehicle.

The teen is charged with killing someone while fleeing an officer. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports he didn’t have a driver’s license.

The Associated Press isn’t naming the teen because it’s possible the case could be moved to juvenile court because of his age.

The criminal complaint says a police officer saw a van speed through an intersection Sunday morning, and it sped up when she followed it. The officer saw the van crash and four people run. A fifth person, 18-year-old Rashad Higgins, was ejected and died.

Police say the van was stolen and its ignition had been removed.
