COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) - A man wanted in connection with the killing of a Coos Bay man earlier this week surrendered to police after officers surrounded the home he was hiding in.

Police have been searching for Kyle Sun Ray since authorities found the body of David Smith in his home on Tuesday.

A city worker called police Wednesday morning to report a suspicious person. An officer responded, recognized Ray and gave chase, but the suspect got away.

Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier tells The World (https://bit.ly/1MlcBXL ) that investigators were just beginning a meeting about the case when word arrived that Ray had been spotted. They set out to the area he was last seen and closed in on a house with a door that had been kicked in.

Frasier says Ray surrendered before officers moved in.
