DETROIT (AP) - Police say a shooting on a Detroit freeway left one person dead and another wounded.

State police say in a statement that callers reported seeing “a weapon going off multiple times within a vehicle” about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on westbound Interstate 94.

Police say two people were shot before their vehicle went off the roadway and struck a fence. Police say the driver was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, and a passenger was hospitalized on life support. A third passenger wasn’t injured.

The vehicle from which shots were fired continued on I-94. State police are investigating and seeking detail from additional witnesses.

Names of those involved weren’t immediately released.
