WOODBRIDGE, N.J. (AP) - The New Jersey Turnpike Authority is leasing the 180,000 square foot landmark Hess building that used to serve as the corporation’s headquarters.

NJ.com reports (https://bit.ly/1kwqPKu ) the Authority is leasing the building for 15 years for $2.87 million with an option to buy the building and 13 acres of property for nearly $26 million. The Authority can move into the building on Route 9 adjacent to the turnpike in Woodbridge during the second half of 2016.

A Turnpike Authority spokesman says the move will allow the authority to have all of its administrative offices located in the same building.

The Hess building has been on the market since last year. The petroleum company exited the retail fuel market and sold its gas stations to Speedway to focus on fuel exploration and production.
