SAN DIEGO (AP) - San Diego police have shot and killed a wanted man during a chase.

It happened Wednesday afternoon in the Pacific Beach neighborhood.

Police say the 47-year-old man was wanted for felonies in Missouri and was considered armed and dangerous.

Authorities say an officer spotted the man walking down a street and chased him. The man briefly hid in a shed, then was bitten by a police dog as he tried to jump a fence.

Police say after hopping the fence, the man climbed onto the ledge of an apartment building, where he was shot after reaching into his pockets. He died at the scene.

His name wasn’t immediately released and authorities didn’t immediately say whether he was armed.
