MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut man has been charged with murder in the death of an elderly man who was found this week in a pool of blood at the end of his driveway.

Steven Brockett, of Waterbury, was arrested Wednesday in Middlebury. He is facing charges of murder, first-degree robbery and assault on an elderly person.

Police responded to a Middlebury home on Tuesday after someone found the body of 79-year-old Isidore Ellin. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled that Ellin died of blunt force trauma to the head. Police said Brockett used a nearby object to kill him and stole money from him. It’s not clear what Brockett and Ellin’s relationship is.

Police continue to investigate what led up to the killing.
