PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - Paterson’s police director is promising to have more cops on the streets following the worst outbreak of gun crime in the northern New Jersey city in the past five years.

There were four shootings, two carjackings and at least five armed robberies in less than 10 hours between Thursday night and Friday morning.

Police Director Jerry Speziale tells The Record (https://bit.ly/1NxiWjE ) newspaper he believes the unusually warm November weather was a factor, putting more people on the streets.

Speziale says he’ll redeploy manpower and send plainclothes units into trouble spots on Friday night.

The four shooting victims are in stable condition.
